Pre-K-3

1st Quarter:

 

Here is a glance at what we are focusing on during the 1st quarter of school.

 

Friendship:  We have talked a lot since the start of school about being good friends with each other, making good choices, what choices we can make when we are happy, sad and mad and that we all make mistakes. 

 

Apples:  September ends with our apple theme where we talk about where apples grow, what we can make from apples and learn about the parts of an apple.

 

Art:  We have been busy creating artwork that goes along with the themes we are learning about in class.  We have painted with apples, made paper hotdogs and enjoy painting every week.  We continue to work on our cutting and pre-writing skills.

 

Math:

The class is working on their number knowledge by rote counting, counting with one to one correspondence, making sets of objects and beginning to match numbers to quantity.  We will continue to practice and expand on all of these skills as the year progresses.

 

Language skills:

The class will be practicing following two and three step directions, working on positional concepts and listening and answering questions during class discussions.

 

Religion:

Our religion time is on Thursdays and we have focused on some of the following themes;

Jesus Welcomes the Children, My Teacher Welcomes Me, Jesus is the Good Shepherd, My Name is Special, The Good Shepherd Cares for His Sheep, My Family Cares for Me, God Made the World
